Snow Fury: The Deadliest Snowstorm in History to Kill 4,000 Lives

More than 45 years ago, or more precisely, on February 3, 1972, Iranians overtook one of the most terrifying cataclysms in the country's history - a very strong snowstorm that did not stop for 6 days. For a state whose arid climate accustomed to the presence of snow only in mountainous regions, such a snowstorm became a real catastrophe with terrible consequences - 4,000 lives taken by the raging elements. Until now, that blizzard is considered the deadliest in history.

The onset of snowfall began to decline only by February 9th. By this time, the height of the snow cover he brought in the southern regions of the country reached 8 meters. Roads were completely hidden under snow blockages, power lines and telephone lines were cut off, and hundreds of settlements remained cut off from the world.

The roofs of the houses could not withstand the heaviness of snow and collapsed directly on their residents, many villages were destroyed, and in the villages of Kakkan and Kumar, moreover, there was not a single survivor left!

The lack of roads and zero visibility did not allow even helicopters to move, as a result of which the rescuers did not have a single opportunity to come to the rescue. In those days, the air temperature dropped to -20 ° C. Many people died from frostbite or lack of necessary medicines.

But even after the retreat of the snowy elements, when everything began to melt, the unfortunate Iranians were waiting for another test - a severe flood.
