In Beijing, on the eve of the Olympics-22 are building an unusual San Shan Bridge

After 3 years, Beijing will host the Olympics for the second time in the 21st century, this time the winter. Despite the fact that a grandiose event is expected only in 2022, the Chinese are actively preparing for the upcoming games and have already begun the construction of iconic facilities dedicated to the Olympics. One of them is the spectacular San Shan Bridge.

The original bridge will be thrown across the capital river Gui. It is part of an infrastructure project that includes the laying of a new road to one of the remote areas of the city - Zhangjiakou. In this part of Beijing, it is planned to hold skiing competitions, so it is necessary to provide participants and spectators with a comfortable and fast path. The San Shan, which was designed by the Chinese company Penda with the participation of British engineers, became a real decoration not only of this route, but of the whole of Beijing.

The design of the whole structure echoes the theme of the DNA helix, mountain ranges and Olympic rings, in the form of which the steel supports of the bridge are 92 meters high. The total length of the bridge is small - only 452 meters, since the Gui River does not belong to large water flows. The bridge has a very unusual layout. In addition to traditional roads and pedestrian areas, it has a green screen that separates hiking enthusiasts from the roadway. Such a layout is designed to emphasize the environmental friendliness of the entire structure and compliance with modern requirements for the urban environment.
