Stunning photos showing the assembly line of the Mercedes-Benz 190 SL in 1958

For those not in the know, the Mercedes-Benz 190 SL is a chic two-seater roadster that was produced from spring 1955 until the end of winter 1963 and was the pride of the brand. At the 1954 Auto Show in New York, the original prototype of this handsome man with a removable hard top was demonstrated.

Model 190 SL has become a perfect alternative for fans of the unique and expensive Mercedes-Benz 300 SL. She could brag of the same refined and magnificent design, excellent mechanisms and an independent suspension bracket. Many other characteristics were also identical. However, instead of the very expensive, exclusive W198 tubular system installed in the 300 SL, the new car was equipped with the R121 monocoque design.

Mercedes could be purchased both with a convertible top, and with a removable hardtop. On request, a small additional seat was offered. Immediately after its release, the 190 SL was available as a sports car with a small plexiglass windshield and stylish, one-piece seats with genuine leather upholstery.

And here is the production of these iconic babies at the factory in 1958.
