Scotland next year is going to completely switch to green energy

Once gas was considered the most environmentally friendly type of fossil fuel, and it was massively switched to, abandoning coal and fuel oil. But modern realities are such that developed industrial countries that produce a significant amount of atmospheric emissions tend to reduce their “contribution” to global pollution. For this reason, blue fuel no longer seems so harmless, European countries decide in favor of alternative green energy, and some regions, for example, Scotland, even say that by the next year they will completely switch to wind, solar and hydropower.

Scotland, although it is part of the UK, but in many respects has broad rights and at its discretion decides many issues. The Scots decided to get ahead of the British and everyone else, becoming the first to stop receiving electricity from traditional thermal power plants. Thanks to the stimulation of business and the adoption of a number of economic measures, the country has already achieved significant success in the use of green energy. The average annual share of wind energy is about 60%, and in some periods of the year with intense winds, this figure increases to 100% or even higher. On such days, Scotland exports its surplus electricity to England. Given the powerful tidal power plants, the share of alternative energy is about 70%, and this despite the fact that back in 2002 this figure was only 10%.

The natural conditions of Scotland are very favorable for the construction of wind farms, both on land and at sea. In addition, there are convenient bays for the construction of tidal and wave power plants, and Scotland is also actively developing this sector of alternative energy. It is in this country that the world's most powerful turbines using tidal energy are located, and the first floating wind station on the planet also appeared off the coast of Scotland. Engineers and scientists in the field of energy use not only world-class developments, but also do their own research so that Scotland completely abandons fossil fuels and becomes an example to follow in the eyes of the rest of the world.
