Stunning Eye: a round lake with a mysterious island is found in the swamps of Argentina

Despite the fact that outside the window of the XXI century, on our planet there are still enough places that are little studied and almost unknown to people. The swampy regions of Argentina are one of them. Therefore, it is not surprising that a previously unknown lake was discovered there, which surprised the public a lot.

The find was made by accident: the film crew was looking for a place to work on a new film. A helicopter pilot flying over a marshland in the Parana River Delta noticed a very strange lake. He was struck by the perfectly round shape of the reservoir. In addition, there was a large island inside the lake, repeating the shape of the coast in shape.

Anyone can find a mysterious lake on the map of the Earth. To do this, you need to focus on Buenos Aires and move from it to the northwest towards the city of Campana. Different mapping services give the following coordinates: -34.251994º, -58.829929º (Yandex. Maps) and 34º 15 '07 "and 58º 49' 42" (Google Earth). For such an unusual appearance, the researchers called the lake found Eye.

Scientists became interested in this find and turned to data from space satellites. Due to the fact that many artificial satellites revolve around our planet, the researchers managed to get several photographs of this area taken at different times. As a result of the comparative analysis, one more interesting detail was revealed. It turned out that the island is moving inside a perfectly round lake, and satellites recorded it in different parts of the reservoir.

Similar floating islands are not uncommon in other water bodies, including in the lakes of Russia, which are located in wetlands. They are called rafts or ribs. The formation of rafting is the initial stage of overgrowing of a reservoir. Water plants floating on the surface of the lake gradually grow, increasing the mass of organics and forming a platform for larger plants - shrubs and trees. Moreover, the island itself is not connected to the bottom or the shore of the reservoir and can freely move in the event of strong winds or under the influence of other factors. The overgrowing process can last for several tens or even hundreds of years, depending on the area of the reservoir. Ultimately, the water area is completely covered by marsh plants.

It is likely that a similar process is taking place on Lake Eye. Well, the reason for its perfectly round shape will soon be found out by scientists who are preparing an expedition to the shores of a mysterious reservoir.
