Non-existent over Austria-Hungary in photographs of the beginning of the 20th century
Austria-Hungary existed from 1867 to 1918, it was a multinational state with a dual monarchy. It included many ethnic groups, which is why it received the popular name "patchwork empire." Strong separatist sentiments among nations, coupled with the defeat in World War I, led to the collapse of Austria-Hungary.
From this era there were picturesque pictures of old European cities and alpine landscapes.
