Scientists announced the results of IQ test analyzes: humanity is rapidly getting stupid

Despite the fact that mankind has made a tremendous breakthrough in all areas of scientific knowledge over the past 100 years, researchers from different countries are increasingly voicing disappointing conclusions. Judging by the research, the level of intelligence of people is decreasing in each new generation, and the modern inhabitant of our planet is inferior in many ways to people from the century before last. But how can this be?

Not so long ago, scientists from Norway announced the results of their research, according to which modern people are inferior in their indicators to those who lived on the planet 50 or even just 20 years ago. Specialists from the Ragnar Frisch Center for Economic Research conducted an analysis of IQ test data for more than 700 thousand people who underwent research on admission to military service. Recall that under the IQ level is meant a quantitative assessment of human intelligence, which is given in points and determined after passing a series of tests. Scientists have reworked a whopping amount of tests stored in archives since the 1970s. It turned out that the average drop in IQ was 7 points per generation. It is possible that people who enter military service cannot serve as an indicator in the field of intelligence of the entire population of the country, but the data obtained are still alarming. Probably, the critics of this study (and there were many who do not want to believe in a gradual decrease in the intelligence of earthlings) would be able to convince everyone of their rightness, if not for the calculations of other similar studies. Alas, other European scholars who compared the intellectual indicators of residents of the Victorian era and modern people came to almost the same conclusions. According to studies, Europeans in the century before last were distinguished by greater ingenuity, quick wits and a higher reaction rate than modern people. Experts estimated the overall decrease in average IQ at 14 points, which occurred over 14 years.

But why is this happening? There is no clear answer to this question yet. A number of researchers associate this with environmental factors, while others point to the rapid development of technology and electronics, which simplify the existence of man, make his life easier and more interesting, but do not train his brain. It turns out that the life of a modern person, at least in European countries whose residents participated in research, is devoid of the difficulties that were a century and a half ago, and this, in turn, leads to a drop in the level of intelligence.
