Six Senses Zil Pasyon wins 2018 Prix Versailles for "Best Hotel Exterior"

Six Senses Zil Pasyon, a Seychelles resort, was named the winner of the 2018 Prix Versailles in the Best Hotel Exterior category following the presentation of the Special Prize for the Best Exterior 2018 in Africa and West Asia award to the resort.

The Prix Versailles - Award designed to mark the most outstanding objects of commercial architecture among shops, restaurants, hotels and shopping centers. The jury is represented by the most respected professionals in the field of architecture and hotel business.

The architectural project Six Senses Zil Pasyon was completed by Richard Hywel Evans and his company Studio RHE, located in London. The basis of the concept is to complement the magnificent nature of the island of Félicité, and not to compete with it. Among the main tasks were also the processes and technologies of sustainable interaction with the environment - a key requirement for all Six Senses projects, which aims to make the resort a part of the island’s ecosystem.

The resort villas (each with its own pool) have been designed to reflect local architectural traditions with a modern twist. Made of polished wood, they became a visual continuation of the surrounding fauna, unobtrusively complementing the beauty of the island. The location of the villas allows you to fully enjoy the picturesque scenery and absolute privacy. In the lining of the residences, which are located on the hills of the island, granite is used, which allows them to merge with the stone landscape, while at the same time contrasting the soft forms of the boulders with their geometric angles.

Two seemingly contradictory architectural styles perfectly harmonize together, as well as with the nature of the area. Studio RHE pros demonstrated the highest level of creativity, and Six Senses proudly joined the studio team in designing the interior design of these architectural treasures.

The huge Six Senses Spa Zil Pasyon is located amid hospitable cliffs and rocks by the sea. All spa facilities, including treatment villas, wet rooms and a yoga platform, blend seamlessly with nature. The salt-water pool and pavilions for yoga and meditation are located on elevated terraces, overlooking one of the best landscapes in the Seychelles. A winding trail among granite stones leads to five wooden double treatment villas set amidst a massive landscape. During the construction, the main focus was on the use of natural materials, and the thoughtful design of the villas reflects the palette, textures and atmosphere of the island.
