12 likely reasons why the aliens have not yet contacted us

People began to think about the fact that we can not be alone in the Universe, from the moment we realized that it is not limited to a flat earth disk on three whales. But there are an incredible number of galaxies around, and no one has made any attempts to establish contact with us (if you do not take into account the conspiracy theories of individual ufologists). RealClearScience, an English-language science blog, has found 12 possible reasons why this has not yet happened.

Aliens just don't exist

No matter how unlikely it may seem in a galaxy with hundreds of billions of stars and up to 40 billion terrestrial planets in residential areas, we can simply be alone in the universe.

There is no intelligent life besides us (if we can be called intelligent)

There is life on other planets, but it can simply take the form of miniature microbes or other animals that are not able to give us "greetings" from space.

Intelligent species lack advanced technology

Currently, astronomers are carefully listening to the night sky using radio telescopes. Therefore, if the inhabitants of other planets do not transmit any signals, we will never know that they exist (perhaps the sniffer of Professor Farnsworth would help here).

Intellectual life is self-destructing

A developed civilization can come up with many suicide options: weapons of mass destruction, planetary pollution, the creation of artificial viruses - the list is quite extensive. With proper dexterity, this does not take much time - different alien species may simply not have time to meet.

Space is a deadly place

It’s not about the Alien who has made his way to your ship. Death can overtake on the home planet. Enough asteroid, supernova, gamma-ray burst or solar flare. At the scale of the universe - just imagine billions of years! - as in the song, really "there is only a moment."

The universe is very big

The Milky Way alone is 100,000 light-years, so it’s quite possible that the focused signals of intelligent aliens, which are limited by the speed of light, have simply not reached us.

Searches too short

Radio telescopes that allow us to detect other people's signals have existed for only 80 years. And an active search for aliens is even less. This is not for long, you have to be patient.

We are not looking where we need to

The universe, as we recall, is very large. And if we catch a signal in the wrong direction, we will never hear it. As scientists explain, this is like trying to chat with a friend on a radio station on 250 billion channels when you don’t know what frequency it is on.

Alien technology may be too advanced

On Earth, radio engineering is commonplace, but in the distant worlds of civilization, perhaps, they have mastered more modern communication technologies, such as neutrino signals. Unfortunately, we still cannot decipher them.

Everyone just catches a signal, but no one transmits

This is what we are doing on Earth. In addition to a few worthless attempts to transmit strong signals into space in a narrow frequency band, we could barely indicate our presence in the Universe. In addition, even if aliens have radio telescopes like ours, terrestrial television and radio broadcasts can be detected only at a distance of up to 0.3 light years - and this is less than the farthest distances of our solar system.

Not specifically associated with Earth

Advanced alien civilizations can apply rules that allow them to come into contact only with species that achieve a high degree of technological or cultural evolution. People just have not yet grown to extraterrestrial communication.

The aliens are already here, we just don’t know

Lovers of conspiracy theories adore this unlikely explanation. Although the chances are small, it is possible that governments have long concealed the presence of aliens. Although it is more likely that aliens are already among us, observing humanity in the intelligent and ironic guise of laboratory mice.
