Face to face with a fur seal: 11 amazing photos

Contrary to their name, fur seals have nothing to do with felines - they are pinnipeds that belong to the eared seal family. Fur seals are herd animals, and sometimes so many of them gather in one place that the apple has nowhere to fall. But cats prefer to hunt one at a time. Various fish and cephalopods become their victims, but sometimes scuba divers meet on their way, whose camera may also seem very appetizing to them. For example, these "scary" shots were taken off the coast of Plettenberg Bay in South Africa.

Photographer Rainer Schimpf met these charming and playful creatures off the African coast. As it turned out, they were not at all afraid of the camera, but even, on the contrary, had a strong interest in it, now and then trying to bite it behind the lens and taste it.

Here you can see so many of these animals that the place was nicknamed “Cape Seals”
