Fukan - the most magical meteorite found on Earth, which is 4.5 billion years old

Meteorites are not such rare visitors to our planet. Every now and then they fall upon the Earth, reminding people that our world is much larger, that it extends far beyond the globe, and we are just a tiny part of it. Some meteorites differ from most and are literally a gift of the Universe, they are so amazing and beautiful. One of these surprises of extraterrestrial origin can be called Fukan.

Scientists believe that the age of this stone is 4.5 billion years, which means it is comparable with the age of our planet. Fukan is truly magnificent. It half consists of large inclusions of peridot and precious olivine, and half of the metal base is a mixture of nickel and iron. Yellow crystals transmit light well, giving the impression that the stone literally glows from the inside.

It is curious that the most ordinary American tourist discovered a meteorite. He often strolled around the city of Fukang County during his trip to China and liked to eat, sitting on an unusual huge stone, which seemed to be made of many crystals. Once, he nevertheless decided to find out what a wonderful miracle of nature was, and broke off a small piece from a lump. He sent him home for an expert assessment. Suddenly, researchers informed him that he had stumbled upon a rare meteorite. Rumors immediately began to creep at a frantic speed, and soon the tourists who were visiting the country rushed to the luminous block to break off a piece of it as a souvenir. Thus, while the government realized that it was necessary to enclose the territory, the Fukan meteorite, named after its location, managed to "lose weight" by forty kilograms.

In the end, the Chinese decided to extract the stone and cut it into several pieces, which they were going to sell at auction. And one of them weighing more than 30 kilograms was presented to the American Museum of Natural History.

Let's admire this ancient cosmic alien, in which, according to scientists, the remains of the planets formed billions of years ago are preserved.
