Guy city - the 1000th city of Russia

The city of Guy is located in the Southern Urals, 26 km south of the Iriklinsk reservoir, 246 km east of Orenburg. By the way, Guy is the 1,000th city of Russia and a precious pearl of the Southern Urals.

The city of Guy was founded on May 9, 1959 as a workers' village of builders of a local mining and processing plant based on a deposit of copper-pyrite ores. After 20 years, the village was given the status of a city. In 1979, Guy received the status of a city of regional subordination, it is also noteworthy that in the register of cities of the Russian Federation it is registered under No. 1000. In 1999, the emblem of the city was approved.

For the first time, survey work in these places began in 1932. The initiator was the famous geologist in the Orenburg region, Joseph Rudnitsky. During the war, these works had to be curtailed, but as soon as peace came, they resumed. The first copper ore deposits were discovered in one of the drilled wells in 1950. Then, in the early spring of 1959, they began construction of the plant and a residential village. Construction announced the All-Union. Komsomol members and communists from different parts of the country began to come here. They began to consider the city’s birthday on May 9, 1959, when a raised flag fluttered over the new building, indicating the beginning of the shock construction. During the year of construction, residential buildings, a school, a bathhouse were erected, and 5 thousand tons of ore were mined.

At the intersection of Lenin Street and Victory Avenue, this stele was installed in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Victory over fascism. This is a commemorative sign of "Standing and conquering, dead and alive." Appeared at this place on May 9, 1995. The installation of the commemorative sign was carried out for two months. The author of the project is Vladimir Petrovsky. The Order of Victory on a spire was designed by Alexander Kodyakov from metal. The memorial sign is made of natural granite.

The obelisk "Defenders of the Fatherland" was established on September 6, 2002. On the pedestal is a tower from the BTR-80, which participated in the hostilities in Chechnya. Located on Molodezhnaya street in front of the building of the DOSAAF city committee:

Memorial sign in honor of the first builders of the city. This obelisk was erected in the year of the 25th anniversary of the city in 1984. It is made in the form of an obelisk of a symbolic drill. It was with such a drill that the first batch of copper ore was once taken from the bowels of the earth. The author of the project is the chief artist of the city of Orsk, Petr Primak. All designs were made at the Elektropreobrazovatel factory. The construction of the obelisk was carried out by the Yuzhuralaltyazhstroy trust. According to the artist, the obelisk should be white. Below, on four sides, spotlights were installed to illuminate, but then they were removed.

Miners Culture Palace:

At the entrance to the city from the side of Bashkiria, a symbolic memorial sign is installed - a loading and delivery machine. In its bucket there is a rock mass, which this equipment once transported in a mine. The spent ones were lifted up the hill, repaired, updated with a layer of paint and put on a pedestal by the workers of the mine construction department of PJSC "Gaysky GOK". This composition appeared here in 2017.

Cathedral of John of Kronstadt and the bell tower. This magnificent temple was built recently and immediately became the main attraction of the city of Guy. The main shrine of the temple should be an icon with particles of the relics of St. George:

The temple is unique in its architecture, which is based on the temple building of the XIX century. The construction of the temple was laid in 2002, the customer of construction was the UMMC company. In 2006, the brickwork of the complex was completed, 11 bells were raised on the bell tower. The weight of the largest of which is 2.7 tons, the smallest - 6 kilograms. In 2007, the temple and the bell tower were crowned with domes weighing 10 and 8 tons. Copper for domes was allocated by PJSC Gaysky GOK, and all dome structures and the roof were performed by Gaysky Non-Ferrous Metals Processing Plant Alloy OJSC.

Stela "Glory to Labor" on Pionerskaya Street. Its height is about 25 meters. The stele appeared in 1964, on the 5th anniversary of the city. It helps to keep the memory of the first Gaistroevtsy. On one side of the stele there is an inscription: "By the will of the party, Guy was built by the hands of the young." On the other is the date: "1959". Let me remind you, this is Guy's year of birth.

Cinema "Youth".

Monument to Lenin near school number 2. It was installed here on April 22, 1962. Sculpture V.I. Lenin was executed in the city of Moscow and acquired at the expense of Komsomol members who earned on subbotniks and Sundays.
