Megaliths of Mountain Shoria: the construction of an ancient civilization and a natural object

Mountain Shoria is a mountainous region located at the junction of Altai and Kuznetsk Alatau. The absolute heights of the terrain in this region are in the range of 600-1600 meters. The untouched nature, clean air and picturesque landscapes made this place very popular among tourists. Well-known far beyond the region, the Sheregesh ski resort is also located in Mountain Shoria.

In publications about the megaliths of Mountain Shoria, this set of photographs, as a rule, appears, which presents views of the Kuylum-Surtak structure.

Proponents of the man-made origin of objects, such as G. A. Sidorov and geologist A. G. Bespalov, put forward the theory of the existence of a highly developed ancient civilization in this region. A wall of stone blocks in this theory appears as the ruins of an ancient structure. Tourists and lovers of civilizations unknown to science came to the huge boulders, forming a kind of wall, and two years ago, in September 2016, an expedition visited it, which included representatives of the Russian Geographical Society.

The expedition spent several days at the site and carefully examined the place where the alleged megaliths are located. Researchers recognized this region as extremely interesting in terms of organizing tourist routes, but no convincing traces of ancient civilizations were found. In order to attribute the rock massif or its individual sections to the category of man-made creations, some traces of manual or machine processing should be recorded on it. But them, according to A.G. Bespalov, one of the participants in the expeditions and a supporter of the megalith theory, could not be found.

Nature sometimes creates completely unbelievable objects that attract public attention and serve as tourist attractions. Sometimes, as is the case with the "megaliths" of Mountain Shoria, they remind us of the creations of ancient civilizations, the ruins of fortress walls or temple complexes. But everyone knows that any conclusions should not be based on emotions or striking external resemblance, but on facts and evidence. Perhaps, with a more detailed study in this region, traces of ancient civilizations will be found, but at the moment this has not happened.
